The Men’s Home was initially brought into existence in the mid 1990’s after watching men struggle with living according to God’s will after coming out of jail, prison, or a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol and violence. Even after finding salvation in Jesus Christ, or rededicating their life to Him, they discover the pull of the world they were living in is greater than they had thought, and sometimes had nowhere else to go. We believe it is the responsibility of the Body of Christ to take care of these men when God gives us the resources to do so.
Our goal is to organize the Men’s Home in a way that will be productive and Christ centered. The program is designed to disciple men using a structure of Bible Studies, chores and fellowship. We understand Christian discipleship to not be a state we live in, but a process that is lived out through us each day. We also believe this is best done by placing ourselves under the authority of people who hold the Word of God as the ultimate source of truth in belief and practice. By doing this we are holding ourselves accountable to God and His Word.
When men enter the program we ask them to prayerfully consider their spiritual and physical needs and whether they can trust God to supply them. We encourage those who are unemployed to not seek employment while the church covers the basic necessities (i.e. food, rent, utilities). The reason is to help build a strong foundation with God through time spent studying and reading His Word, in prayer and fellowship with other believers. We believe this is essential for anyone before they re-establish themselves back into society.
In addition, there is a list of rules that are agreed to as they enter the program. These rules are designed to help maintain an atmosphere that is Christ-centered. While the list appears to be extensive they are necessary to help establish this atmosphere because we have found that everyone entering the program is struggling with different issues.
As they prove themselves willing to submit to God and be “renewed in the spirit of your mind” (Eph. 4:23) they are given additional privileges including part or full time employment.
The Men’s Home is located in the basement of CCP. There are 3 bedrooms with the capacity to house up to 5 men at a single time. Also there are 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen with everything they may need to prepare any meals, as well as a shower, a washer and dryer and a recreation room where they can watch approved video tapes or DVD’s or exercise.
